The Jungfrau region lacks nothing. The spectacular mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau reach to nearly 4,000 meters and provide a spectacular backdrop for a variety of skiing terrains. The entire range is connected by the Junfrau region trains originating in Interlaken and terminating at the Junfraujoch.
Skiing is suited to all abilities with novices able to find great terrain in and around most of the villages. Experts, even those of world cup standards, will not find these slopes lacking. The good recreational skier will also find the most enjoyment out of the region.
The region has three major ski areas accessible from its twin-valley towns. The best-known resort is Grindelwald, a picture-postcard settlement nestled at the foot of the peaks. Wegen is a car-free resort reached only by cog railway from Lauterbrunnen, which shares many of the Grindelwald’s ski areas. Mürren, another car-free village, on the opposite side of the Lauterbrunnen Valley nestles beneath the Schilthorn.
Of the resorts, Wengen and Mürren are on-mountain entries, the others are at the foot of the ski hills, or not too far away. The mountain train system connects the whole scene, so you can confidently stay in any of the locations and reach your chosen ski area with minimum hassle.
