Stubaital Glacier, Austria
Stubaital Glacier, Austria
The Kingdom of Snow on Top of Tyrol
Stubai Valley, one of the most beautiful winter sports resorts in Austria, extends just a few kilometers south from Innsbruck. Stubaital has long been a favorite Tannenbaum destination.
Those in search of early-season snow for thrills and spills are strongly recommended to head for Stubaier Gletscher. Serviced by a network of 20 high-speed lifts, Austria’s largest Glacier Ski Resort ascends from 1,750m to 3,200m and is home to world-renowned snow conditions and the finest year-round skiing you can imagine.
From gentle runs for beginners and families, to challenging moguls, to heart pounding double black diamond runs, Stubaier Gletscher has everything you need for a great day of skiing or riding no matter what your ability. The naturally divided skiable terrain includes 110km of trails, two permanent race-courses, a 4.5km cross-country ski track and an ice-climbing tower.
There are at least 15 kilometers (nine miles) of off-piste ski routes in and around the glacier that are available to those who have some alpine experience and heed warning signs and barriers. One of the best is the 14 kilometer (7 mile) Wilde Grub'n route down through a wonderful open bowl that finishes up all the way down at the base station, where the yellow umbrella bar awaits you. Always a favorite meeting place for all Tannenbaumers to have an apré-ski drink after a successful ski day.
At night be sure to hit “Harry’s Pub” or “Dorf Pub” or “Nachtkastl” or “Rumpl.” For adult-eyes-only check out the nightly shows at the “Hully Gully.”
The buses will depart from the Vogelweh Bowling Alley parking lot.
