Trip Brief

Bernkastel-Kues is a must for wine-lovers seeking some of the finest German-produced spirits, and for those who simply want to enjoy the quiet charms of the region.

This enchanting 700-year-old village straddles the Moselle River and is surrounded by dramatically steep hillsides. The area’s stony soil, sunshine, and mild regional climate create an ideal environment for Riesling grapes, the aristocrat of German vines. Rieslings produce fruity, intense wines that linger long on the palate—a connoisseur’s delight! Naturally, the local vintners offer visitors ample opportunity to taste their products.

At the heart of Bernkastel-Kues is the Marktplatz (market square). Composed of half-timbered, color-washed homes and businesses with sheer roofs and gables, you will find yourself in a beautifully romantic setting. A mass of revelers invade the village square for the duration of the festival, ensuring that you’ll have a memorable adventure!

The evening is capped in spectacular fashion with one of the top fireworks shows in Germany.

Bus departure location is from the CTS parking lot.
